Chief of Police
The City of Navasota is seeking a skilled and visionary servant leader ready to build the Police Department’s successful past and guide it into a bright future. Candidates should be collaborative and diplomatic, individuals who thrive in a team environment and who establish and maintain strong relationships with ease. Also, they should have experience policing in a diverse, rural or urban environment similarly sized or larger than Navasota and display a passion for community policing. While knowledge and experience are critical to this role, city leaders are also looking for someone with strong communication skills who builds trust through open and transparent dialog, and with a proven record of engaging with key stakeholders to develop and strengthen support of the department. As a leader, they should embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion principles; hold themselves and others accountable to performance measures; administer promotion and disciplinary processes fairly and consistently; and commit to building a positive departmental culture focused on faithfully serving the community. The ideal candidate will additionally have experience in implementing — and committing to — department wellness and mental health programs; in recruiting, hiring, training, and retaining a qualified and diverse workforce; and in assessing, selecting, and integrating technological solutions to improve crime management.
