The City of Navasota is currently accepting applications for the following full-time positions.

Current Openings


        The Community Outreach Specialist serves as facilitator of all community development programming for the City of Navasota including the effective communication of property maintenance and planning and development standards to city residents and coordinates all neighborhood pride and education, housing and community beautification initiatives.  Performs property inspections within Navasota City limits and Extra-territorial Jurisdiction (where applicable) to ensure compliance with City of Navasota property maintenance, health and sanitation, junk vehicles, and planning and development standards.  The individual works under the administrative direction of the Community Development Director.       

        A bachelor's degree preferred with 3-5 years of project/program management experience in the public, private or nonprofit sector. A valid Texas Class C Driver’s license required.


        Lead city staff member working with our economic development partners in implementing a pro-active business retention, expansion, and recruitment plan, including providing city information and expertise in the areas of economic development.  Engaged in enhancing retail and commercial business development as well as promotion of tourism, as an economic generator, in the City.  Plans, develops, markets, and manages all aspects and activities related to the execution of the Navasota Economic Development Corporation’s (NEDC) Strategic Work Plan.  Assists representatives of business, real estate, and the development community in working with the City to bring in new businesses and news jobs.  Works with City Department Directors to evaluate department services and develop processes for improving delivery in order to enhance economic development opportunities.  Develop and implement business retention and expansion programs and act as representative for the NEDC with local, county, regional, and state organizations.  Adhere to the legislative requirements and intended use of Type B Sales Tax for economic development and work under the direction of the Community Development Director.

        A bachelor's degree preferred with five years of experience in the field of economic development, community development, city management or marketing, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.  A valid Texas Class C Driver's license required.


          Operates the city library efficiently and ensures daily library meets the needs of the community. Duties include providing assistance to patrons, promoting the library, and managing its operations, including acquisition, circulation, and reference functions.

TCOLE Certified Police Officers

        Must be certified through TCOLE or if not certified must be 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or a GED.  

Communications Operators

         Must be 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or a GED.  Shift work including nights, weekends and holidays.    

Certified Police Officers and Communications Operators:

         A person cannot have been convicted of a Class B misdemeanor or higher.  Must be a U.S. citizen and be able to pass an extensive background.  If you have questions concerning qualification, you may contact Navasota Police Department 936-825-6124.
