Date: June 17 - June 18, 2019
Category(s):

Training Description:

In an age when it is easier than ever for individuals to use technology to control, stalk, and harass, it is important for community members to be able to identify, prevent, and respond to these crimes. This training will describe the ins-and-outs of digital abuse within the context of intimate partner violence, as well as review common ways abusers use technology. The presenter will also discuss the laws and remedies available in Texas to protect survivors and safety planning practices that anyone can employ.

Presenter:

Bronwyn Blake is the Legal Director of the Texas Advocacy Project and the Founder of their Teen Justice Initiative, a program that advocates for teen victims of dating violence. Ms. Blake was awarded the first UT Faculty Fellowship in Public Interest Law from the William Wayne Justice Center to start this valuable work. Ms. Blake has been featured on America’s Most Wanted and Court TV as an expert on this issue, and has previously clerked at the Family Justice Division of the Travis County DA’s Office and at Break the Cycle.
