FEMA Flood Maps

Administration

On August 13, 2009, the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) for the City of Navasota were revised and released by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) designating the areas proposed within a flood zone. The revisions come as part of FEMA’s effort to modernize the maps at a national level.

The Navasota Public Works Administration Offices of the city is charged with the maintenance and enforcement of the City’s floodplain and floodway ordinances as mandated by the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The Director of Public Works operates in the capacity of the Certified Floodplain Administrator (CFM). City staff will assist residents and property owners in identifying your parcel of land to determine if it is affected by the 100-year floodplain.

City of Navasota officials have displayed the existing and preliminary Floodplain Maps and encourage residents to review them by visiting the Navasota City Hall located at 200 E. McAlpine Street in downtown Navasota. Individuals who reside outside city limits must contact their respective Floodplain Administrator. For Grimes County information, please call (936) 873-3135.
