Jason B. Weeks was hired as the City Manager in December 2021. His start date with the city of Navasota is January 3, 2022. Originally from Greenville, Texas, Jason has been employed in local government for over 20 years, with the majority of his experience in municipal accounting and finance. He has served as the director or assistant director over the finance functions for the cities of McKinney, Fairview, Oak Point, and Greenville. The remainder of his career has been dedicated to serving in city management as an assistant city manager. Jason’s experience in municipal government includes the areas of accounting, financial reporting, debt and cash management, budgeting, auditing, utility billing, permitting, municipal court, solid waste management and working as the financial liaison of various boards (EDC, CDC, Visitor’s Bureau and Airport). As the assistant city manager at the city of La Porte, he oversaw Fire, EMS, Office of Emergency Management, Bay Forest Golf Course, Human Resources, Economic Development, Information Technology and the City Manager’s Office. Additionally, he assisted during a vacancy in the Development Services director position, at which time he oversaw Planning, GIS, Inspections, Code Enforcement, and Permitting.
Jason holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Texas A&M University at Commerce and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from The University of Texas at Arlington. He is a graduate of the Texas State University's William P. Hobby Center for Public Service Certified Public Manager Program and is a Certified Public Manager. Additionally, he is an ICMA Credentialed Manager Candidate and has a Certification in Public Budgeting and Financial Management from The University of Texas at Arlington.
