The City of Navasota and the Keep Navasota Beautiful Commission are inviting businesses, churches, schools, civic groups, and volunteers to register for participation in the 2016 Trash-Off on Saturday, April 9. This is a continuation of the ongoing beautification movement that began 15 years ago when nearly 150 Navasota residents came together to participate in Navasota’s first Don’t Mess with Texas Trash-Off.
On Saturday, April 9 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Navasota residents and businesses will join together to help clean our Texas highways, city streets, parks and neighborhoods as part of the Texas Department of Transportation Don’t Mess With Texas Trash-Off Litter Cleanup Campaign. Residents are encouraged to reserve locations in advance for the litter pickup. Registering your team before the March 11 deadline will secure each registered participant with an event T-shirt.
The program for the 2016 Trash-Off begins at the Navasota Center at 101 Stadium Drive. Volunteers will be served breakfast, and provided with trash bags, gloves, and safety vests before heading out to the preselected cleanup locations. At 11:30 a.m., all groups will return to the Navasota Center with their bags of litter. At this time, our event sponsors will provide a light lunch for all participants. In addition, the festivities will include prize drawings, contests and awards presented during the luncheon.
If you or your business is interested in sponsoring the event, providing items for the prize drawings or are interested in participating at the Trash-Off event, you may obtain an event sponsorship or volunteer registration form by contacting Cindy Armatys at 936.825.6475. Sponsorship and Pre-registration deadline is March 11, 2016.
