Skate Park

Overview

In 2005, a group of youth skateboarders approached the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board with a petition for a public skateboard park.  After four years, several fundraisers, two grants, and a land donation, the City of Navasota has contracted with Ideal Skateparks of Austin for the design and construction of a public concrete skateboard park. This park was built FOR skaters, BY skaters.  Every effort was made to get community, skater and stakeholder input in the design.

Location

100 Stadium Drive
Navasota, Texas  77868

Operation

This park remains entirely free and open daily, with no limit on hours access outside of the City’s park curfew. There will be no direct supervision of the park so skate at your own risk, however, the Parks and Recreation staff offices are located directly across the street and the Department anticipates the need to monitor the park equipment and park aesthetics in order to maintain a high quality facility.

Rules

Efforts have been made to maintain rules to keep the park safe, with the idea in mind that skating, like any other sport, does carry some risk of injury.  Please spread the word that this park is an open space in our community -- KEEP YOUR PARK CLEAN, KEEP IT OPEN.  Please help us minimize the trash by throwing yours away.  Thanks.

The rules are posted at the site and are as follows:
  • No bicycles allowed.
  • All skaters should wear, at a minimum, safety equipment which includes elbow pads, helmets and proper shoes.
  • Children under the age of 10 should be supervised by an adult

The park officially opened on Saturday, March 27, 2010 to skaters and their families and friends.
