About KNB

Keep Navasota Beautiful was founded in April of 2002 and is an affiliate of the Keep Texas Beautiful, Inc. Keep Navasota Beautiful is the City’s leading organization in beautification, litter reduction and recycling education. The City Council appointed board is committed to empowering Navasota’s citizens to take responsibility for enhancing their community’s environment. The group encourages the entire community to participate in events such as litter and community cleanups, flower and wildflower seed planting, and cell phone and ink jet cartridge recycling.

Mission

The mission of Keep Navasota Beautiful is to involve individuals and businesses throughout the community to promote education and activities that encourage waste reduction, litter prevention, beautification, and environmental sustainability.   


Community Awards Received

2013 -2014

Keep Texas Beautiful Gold Star Affiliate

Awarded a Community Grant from Union Pacific Railroad to further improve the Native and Adapted Demonstration Garden.

Awarded a $1,800 grant from the Brazos Valley Council of Governments for purchase of litter cleanup supplies for community events.

 2012-2013

Keep Texas Beautiful Governor Community Achievement – Navasota, 2nd Place

Keep Texas Beautiful Gold Star Affiliate

Awarded a grant from Lowes Home Improvement /Keep America Beautiful to plant a Community Native and Adapted Plant demonstration Garden.

Brazos Valley Council of Governments Solid Waste Planning Award – Navasota, for Sustainability of Environmental Programs

Beautification Award Programs

Monthly Beautification Award:

The Beautification Awards Program was established in 2003 to recognize and reward City of Navasota businesses, residents, and churches for improvements and maintenance of their properties. The Beautification Award Recognition Program is presented monthly and exists to honor the uniqueness of Navasota’s many businesses and those that maintain or have significant improvements to their property, which enhances the community and improves the quality of life for all citizens. The Navasota Community may nominate a deserving prospect by downloading a nomination form.

We've Noticed Award

The ‘We’ve Noticed’ Award recognizes individuals, church, civic organization, school or group for a program or project that corresponds with the mission of Keep Navasota Beautiful. Nominations may be submitted for beautification projects, clean-up activities, recycling efforts, environmental awareness/education endeavors, beautification pursuits, and natural resource conservation accomplishments. Awards are presented to the recipient at a regular meeting of the Navasota City Council.
