The role of the City Council is to enact ordinances and resolutions,
adopt regulations, and set policy direction for the conduct of the
affairs of the city. The citizens of Navasota elect the five members of
the City Council at large. The City of Navasota Charter stipulates that
the council members will vote on which members serve as the mayor and
mayor pro tem.
The City Council appoints the citizens of Navasota and Grimes County
to approximately ninety seats on the advisory boards and commissions.
Along with the Council, these board members serve as volunteers and
play an important role in shaping the Navasota of tomorrow.
