TREATS ON THE STREET

Treats on the Street was started in 2002 as a safe alternative to Halloween. The event will be held on October 31, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in downtown Navasota. This annual event was created to provide a safe and controlled atmosphere for children of the community to trick or treat with the family. Individuals or businesses wishing to reserve a space should contact Marla Gurka at 936-825-6124.

A large number of businesses in the city participate in Treats on the Street by setting up booths and handing out candy and treats. The number of businesses that participate has grown as have the number of people that attend.

It was estimated that 3500 people from the city and the county attended Treats on the Street in 2005. Everyone involved in Treats on the Street has a fun time, as do the children that attend.
