MADELEY CHAPEL

at the Oakland Cemetery

The Madeley Chapel is designed to serve as an inclement-weather building for funeral services at the Oakland Cemetery. This facility offers six pews that are 12 feet in length, and a bier for the casket placement. The mediation garden surrounding the building provides a place of comfort for families.

Built in 2004, the Madeley Chapel is named in honor of Sam and Abbie Morris Madeley. The building was the idea of funeral director Chester Nobles, who imagined a place where people could have funerals in a safe location away from the rain or winds. He, along with the Navasota Cemetery Committee, designed the Madeley Chapel and mediation gardens. The funds for the mediation garden were provided by the Navasota Kiwanis Club.
